Jung Joon-young, also known as JJY, is a former South Korean singer-songwriter, actor, DJ, and television personality. He gained popularity through his appearance on the fourth season of the Korean reality show “Superstar K” in 2012, where he finished in third place. He subsequently released several successful solo albums and collaborated with other K-pop artists.
In March 2019, Jung Joon-young became embroiled in a scandal involving the distribution of hidden camera footage he had filmed without the consent of his sexual partners. He admitted to the crime and was ultimately sentenced to six years in prison. As a result of the scandal, Jung’s career and reputation suffered a massive blow and he was subsequently dropped by his record label and all his TV appearances were cancelled.
The scandal also implicated other high-profile celebrities and resulted in a broader conversation about consent and hidden cameras in South Korea.
